Kyrgyzstan is showing serious interest in the Sverdlovsk region in developing cooperation. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Erlan Abdyldaev, during a meeting with Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev, as reported on September 8 by a correspondent of IA REGNUM in the Department of Information Policy of the regional head.
“Understanding that your region is a flagship of Russian industry, and Kyrgyzstan is beginning to implement the program of the second industrial modernization of the country, we invite the Sverdlovsk region to discuss joint plans both for production cooperation projects and for increasing trade relations. A trade turnover of 48 million dollars is not a figure that corresponds to the potential of the parties,” said the head of the foreign policy agency of Kyrgyzstan.
As reported by IA REGNUM, the Sverdlovsk region and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan signed a cooperation protocol during the INNOPROM exhibition in July 2014. As noted by the Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region, Andrey Sobolev, the region is interested in activating actions to implement the Agreement signed by the parties in 2006. “Currently, there is mutual growth in business activity, and trade turnover is intensifying. An analysis of market conditions shows a high interest from both sides in expanding the range and volume of goods, and in developing projects in the fields of poultry farming, tourism, and education,” noted the minister.
According to Abdyldaev, the mentioned areas accurately reflect the interests of both parties. He highlighted a particular trend regarding the possibility of supplying food products to the Ural market. “We are very rich in environmentally friendly agricultural products. Along with fruits and vegetables, there is significant potential in the meat and dairy sectors. We are ready to engage in joint work,” he said.
The governor proposed that the Kyrgyz side agree on a three-year Plan of joint activities in the near future, which would include exchanges of business missions, humanitarian actions, youth forums, and participation in industry exhibition events. “We are ready to start working right now; the necessary infrastructure has been created. Overall, everything is in place for expanding cooperation with the regions of your country. Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Customs Union will assist us,” said Yevgeny Kuyvashev.
