In the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan, a protocol was approved that amends the agreement of December 25, 2003, between the governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan regarding border crossing points. This was reported by Tengrinews.

According to Nurlan Sauranbaev, the Minister of Transport, the changes pertain to the operation of the "Kegen - Karkara" automobile crossing point, which will now operate around the clock. This innovation will increase capacity and create more comfortable conditions for passengers, as well as promote the development of the tourism industry.

In 2025, 11 million people and 3 million vehicles crossed the border, the minister added.

Reference InformationThere are 11 automobile crossing points at the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, of which seven are multilateral international points. Four bilateral points—Alatau, Besagash, Jaiyl, and Kamyshanovka—were closed in 2010. The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is confident that the proposed changes will contribute to the further development of transport and transit relations between the two countries.
