During the meeting, current issues and opportunities for the development of organic farming in the country were discussed, as well as possible ways to address them.
Mahabat Mavlyanova emphasized the importance of organic agriculture for the health of citizens and the sustainable future of Kyrgyzstan.
She also noted the need to support farmers engaged in organic production and to ensure access to the organic product certification system.
Experts pointed out the lack of a specialized body for the certification of organic products in the country and the insufficient state support for farmers. Among the main obstacles to increasing production volumes, soil degradation was mentioned.
During the discussion, participants noted how organic products can positively affect the health of the population and also discussed mechanisms for the distribution of finished products and their supply to large local networks. As a solution, it was proposed to create an organic cluster for the production and processing of medicinal herbs.
