The village of Sasyk-Bulak, founded in 1931, is located in the Bekmoldo rural district of the Talas region.

This settlement arose on the territory of the former collective farm Shumkar-Uya, situated along the river "Üch-Koshoy." It is 54 km from the district center, the village of Kök-Oy, and 150 km from the railway station of Maymak. The main occupations of the local residents include agriculture and animal husbandry.

Among the village's infrastructure, one can find a school, a kindergarten, a medical and obstetric station (FAP), a library, a cultural center, a sports complex, and a mosque.

According to local legends, the name of the village originated from a spring located in its elevated part. In the past, when people lived in the mountains, they decided to descend into the lowland and founded the village, naming it after the spring that split the rock into two parts. Upon approaching the spring, they noticed that the water was oily, and a greasy film formed on its surface.

As the village elders claim, the spring water emitted an unpleasant smell of oil, which led to the name Sasyk-Bulak (which translates to "stinky spring").

“When we were children, we observed how the water was oily. Now it has become much cleaner,” share the memories of the local residents.
