A man who had been on international wanted list for 25 years was detained in Talas, reports the press service of the Talas region's Internal Affairs Department.

According to the information, a criminal case against Talas district resident K. K., born in 1972, was initiated on December 6, 2000, on charges of rape (Article 129, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, 1997 edition).

On December 11, 2000, the Talas district prosecutor's office decided to place K. K. in custody and declared him wanted; a ruling was also issued for his detention and custody at the place of his discovery.

Later, taking into account amendments to the Criminal Code, the case was reclassified to Article 154, Part 2, Clause 3, which pertains to rape with the threat of violence dangerous to life or health.

K. K. had been wanted since February 18, 2000. As a result of the actions of the Talas District Internal Affairs Department, he was detained in June 2024 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Following this, extradition procedures began.

On February 1, 2026, he was returned to Kyrgyzstan, where he was handed over to the investigative service of the Talas District Internal Affairs Department and placed in a temporary detention facility in Talas, as stated in the official report.

Currently, investigative activities are ongoing.
