Bakyt Torobaev discussed irrigation issues with international development partners

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, held meetings with representatives of international financial organizations and the diplomatic corps to discuss "Future Investments in the Irrigation Sector of Kyrgyzstan."

During the negotiations, significant global challenges facing the country's water and irrigation sector were discussed, as well as the investment needs and areas for potential cooperation. Participants sought to identify specific approaches to addressing existing problems.

The results of cooperation with international partners were emphasized, which contributed to the implementation of modern water resource management methods, the digitization of water accounting, increasing the resilience of water infrastructure to climate change, and improving water supply conditions for irrigated lands.

Additionally, during the meeting, the progress of current projects in the water sector, contracted with the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, and Islamic Development Bank, as well as other international partners, was reviewed.

In conclusion, the participants of the meeting concluded that projects in the water sector will not only improve the water supply and irrigation system but will also positively impact the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan.
