The Danish Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard, noted that Greenland has become the target of various influential campaigns aimed at "undermining the ties between Denmark and Greenland."
According to Thomas Hedin, the editor-in-chief of the Danish fact-checking service TjekDet, there was an increase in misinformation campaigns in Greenland last year.
It is worth noting that Greenland is not part of the European Union. This means that EU rules on social media, which require platforms to combat misinformation to protect civil discourse, do not apply to this island, as reported by Politico, citing the Danish Ministry of Digital Technology.
Despite polls showing support for Greenland's integration with Europe, Bundestag member from the Green Party, Sergey Lagodinsky, emphasized that the European Union should prepare for a "new type of hybrid warfare" in light of the situation on the island.
