At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee held on February 9, 2026, deputy Aisarakhan Abdibaeva raised the issue of Kyrgyzstan's ability to independently provide itself with milk.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev responded that the country can indeed produce enough milk for its own needs.
Continuing the discussion, Abdibaeva inquired about where exactly dairy products from Kyrgyzstan are exported. The deputy minister clarified that the main export destination is Kazakhstan.
However, the deputy expressed dissatisfaction that raw milk is sold in Kazakhstan for 40 soms per liter, and then, after pasteurization, is returned to Kyrgyzstan at a price of 120-130 soms per liter.
In response, Kerimaliev stated that Kazakhstan does not purchase raw milk from Kyrgyzstan, only pasteurized milk.
“Our citizens do not consume real milk; they only drink diluted powder. Especially in the capital, we are dealing with milk of questionable quality. It is necessary to increase purchase prices for milk and organize sales in specialized stores,” Abdibaeva stated.

During the meeting, the implementation of the Jogorku Kenesh resolution No. 1950-VII dated March 14, 2024, concerning the regulation of purchase prices for milk (submitted for approval) was also discussed.
