An avalanche has occurred on the Bishkek–Osh highway: Cleanup work is underway

A snow avalanche occurred on the Bishkek-Osh highway, leading to traffic restrictions. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Jalal-Abad region, the incident happened today, February 12, at around 11:50 on the 246th kilometer of the road in the Chychkan gorge, located in the Toktogul district.

Preliminary data indicates that no one was injured. One grader from road service No. 23 has been dispatched to the scene, and is currently working on clearing the roadway.

A warming station has been set up for motorists and passengers at the 271st kilometer of the Bishkek-Osh highway, where emergency services staff are providing hot tea and warm blankets to those in need.

Earlier, Kyrgyzhydromet warned of possible avalanches in mountainous areas of the roads from February 11 to 13.
