A snow avalanche has occurred on the Karakol–Enilchek highway in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region, leading to a temporary halt in vehicle movement.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that the avalanche was recorded in six locations along the road sections from 76 to 82 kilometers.
“Currently, road services are engaged in clearing and restoring the roadway. More detailed information about the road conditions will be provided later,” the official statement notes.
Additionally, strong snowstorms are observed at the Chon-Ashuu pass, which is also on this highway, significantly reducing visibility and increasing the likelihood of further snow slides.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications strongly advises drivers planning trips to mountainous areas and passes to adhere to traffic rules, take weather conditions into account, and, if possible, postpone their trips until the situation stabilizes.
