Restrictions Continue at the Dolon and Ala-Bel Passes
Due to worsening weather conditions and snowfall in the mountainous regions of the country, road services are working around the clock to clear the roads and are using a sand-salt mixture for surface treatment.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as of the morning of December 8, snow is observed at the Töö-Ashuu Pass (on the Bishkek–Osh highway) and the Ötmäk Pass (Suusamyr–Talas–Taraz), however, the roads are accessible for all types of vehicles.
Nevertheless, restrictions have been imposed on heavy trucks at two passes.
At the Dolon Pass (Bishkek–Naryn–Torugart highway), restrictions began to take effect at 9:00 AM today.
As for the Ala-Bel Pass (Bishkek–Osh highway), a temporary closure for heavy trucks was introduced on the evening of December 7 and remains in effect to this day.
“We will provide additional information on changes in traffic conditions as necessary. Road services are operating in an enhanced mode, monitoring their territory, and are also engaged in clearing and treating the surfaces with inert materials,” the official statement notes.
The Ministry urges drivers to exercise caution, avoid entering the oncoming lane, and to use winter tires without fail.
