Elvira Surabaldiyeva, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, shared her thoughts on the change of leadership in parliament and the latest personnel changes in the country.
- Elvira Zhyrgalbekovna, what do you think of the new speaker of parliament?
- The new speaker was nominated by two out of five factions. I just returned from a business trip and came to the session when the candidacy had already been chosen. Marlen Mamataliyev has become one of the youngest speakers in recent times. He promised to put all his energy into the work, and I am pleased that he represents my constituency.
- Many people on social media expressed a desire to see you in this position, but the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh stated that you would "choose freedom." Is that true?
- I think they answered you quite correctly.
- What is your opinion on the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev? There are many rumors in society right now that are causing concern.
- While all this was happening, I was abroad. I returned only late yesterday evening, and today is my first day at the session. I am just starting to understand the situation, but I hope everything will be resolved positively.
