Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan intend to increase trade turnover to $500 million

Adylbek Kasymaliev held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan



During the meeting between the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, issues of cooperation between the two countries were discussed as part of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council. This information was announced by the press service of the Government of Kyrgyzstan.


Kasymaliev emphasized that resolving border issues has become a significant event, creating a strong foundation for the development of friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He also noted that cooperation with Tajikistan is an important direction of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.


As a result of last year, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $36 million, which is an impressive increase of almost 24 times compared to the same period in 2024. The leaders of the countries set a goal to raise this figure to $500 million.


Kohir Rasulzoda, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and confirmed the Tajik side's readiness to implement joint projects. During the conversation, the parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation in various areas, including trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian.
