According to The New York Times, Donald Trump is considering the possibility of striking Iranian facilities related to the nuclear and missile program.
The U.S. President is keeping the option of military action against Iran open, including strikes on key facilities, if negotiations with Tehran do not yield results.
Sources report that the national security team has managed to persuade Trump to refrain from immediate actions while the Pentagon enhances its military capabilities and strengthens defenses in 11 countries in the region that could become targets for Iran's retaliatory actions.
Trump also noted that a regime change in Iran would be "the best thing that could happen."
He expressed his opinion as follows: "That would be the best outcome. For 47 years they have only been talking, and while they continue to do so, we are losing lives — many people there are suffering terribly."
According to Reuters, U.S. armed forces are preparing for a multi-week operation against Iran, which may involve both nuclear facilities and state institutions of the country.
