Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, issued a decree appointing Zhanarbek Akayev to the position of mayor of Osh.
This decision followed the decree dismissing Jenishbek Toktorbaev, who previously served as acting mayor of Osh.
Some facts about Zhanarbek Akayev:
▪️ He was born in 1986 in the Aksy district of Osh region.
▪️ In 2009, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Osh State University.
▪️ Since 2008, Akayev has worked at the Kyrgyz Service of Radio "Azattyk".
▪️ From February to August 2015, he served as press secretary to President Almazbek Atambayev.
▪️ From 2015 to 2021, he was a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the VI convocation from the Social Democratic Party, and was subsequently elected to the parliaments of the VII and VIII convocations. In the latter, he led the deputy group "Ala-Too".
Akayev is married and is the father of three children.
