Information about the bill was presented by Zhakshylyk Toktosunov, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy, and Cartography under the Cabinet of Ministers.

He noted that the project was developed with the aim of modernizing the legislative framework regulating geodetic and cartographic activities within the framework of the Program for the Creation and Development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.

The new version of the law includes updates concerning outdated norms and terms such as "spatial data," "geodetic basis," and "navigation systems." This document also establishes requirements for the creation, updating, and use of geodetic and cartographic materials, as well as regulating the activities of GLONASS/GPS systems and similar technologies. It also outlines the procedure for accessing state geodetic data.

The main goal of the bill is to digitize geodesy and cartography processes, create a unified spatial data repository, and simplify procedures for government agencies and businesses. Additionally, it aims to comply with international standards, including the requirements of the EAEU and the UN in the field of spatial data infrastructure.
