On February 27, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov presented a report on the performance of the real sector of the economy for 2025 at a national meeting. In his speech, he emphasized the main achievements and areas of focus for the future.

He noted that the real sector of the economy showed stable growth and strengthening of production capacities by the end of 2025. In the coming year, the priority will be to increase production volumes, modernize infrastructure, and improve the competitiveness of local products.

According to Akunbekov, agriculture accounts for about 10% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and provides jobs for about 20% of the economically active population. The gross output in 2024 amounted to 396.8 billion soms, and in 2025 this figure increased to 459.7 billion soms, corresponding to an increase of almost 63 billion soms.

“Our main task is to increase productivity and transform the agricultural sector into a modern, competitive, and market-oriented industry. In recent years, we have paid special attention to state support for this sector. In 2025, 12.6 billion soms were allocated for preferential lending programs, and the material and technical base of agriculture has significantly strengthened — the fleet of agricultural machinery has increased to 92,000 units,” he noted.
