Dr. Gentry Lee, who has been working at NASA since 1968, made a statement about the existence of extraterrestrial life, as reported by a piece from the Daily Mail, translated by aif.ru.

However, he emphasized that there is currently no evidence that extraterrestrial beings or their crafts have ever landed on Earth. "To date, there are no facts confirming that aliens or their technologies have ever set foot on our planet," he noted at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference held in Phoenix.

Dr. Lee also expressed confidence that life could exist on other planets. Among the most likely candidates for extraterrestrial life, he mentioned "Earth-like" planets. For example, TRAPPIST-1e, located 40 light-years from Earth, is situated in the habitable zone known as the "Goldilocks Zone."

Additionally, he mentioned the planet K2−18b, which is located 124 light-years away in the constellation Leo and represents a giant world covered by oceans. Such planets are referred to by scientists as "ocean worlds."

Lee emphasized that astronomers should be prepared for the possible discovery of extraterrestrial forms of life that may be significantly different from those on Earth. "We will definitely find life somewhere beyond Earth. The probability of this is extremely high," he added.
