In response to a recent article by the Financial Times, which raised the question of the possibility of Kyrgyzstan taking legal action against the European Union in connection with the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to clarify its position.
During an interview with Daniyar Amangeldiev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, a hypothetical scenario of sanctions was discussed; however, the government emphasizes that it does not plan or consider the possibility of legal disputes with the EU.
“Our position remains stable and unchanged. Kyrgyzstan operates within the framework of its legislation and international obligations, adhering to the norms of international law. Issues related to export control and compliance with sanctions regimes are resolved through dialogue and coordination with our international partners,” the Cabinet noted.
In relations with representatives of the European Union, the emphasis is placed on the transparency of procedures, information exchange, and strengthening regulatory mechanisms. “Judicial and confrontational measures are not part of our action plan,” the official statement added.
It is also emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is committed to constructive cooperation with the European Union and aims to resolve all emerging issues within the existing legal and diplomatic mechanisms.
The Cabinet of Ministers confirms that Kyrgyzstan does not intend and does not plan to file a lawsuit against the EU in connection with the anti-Russian sanctions.
