A passenger flight operated by Southwest Airlines, traveling from Tennessee to Florida, was forced to make an emergency landing in Atlanta. Special forces boarded the plane and detained one of the passengers on suspicion of terrorism, reports TRT.
The alarm was triggered by the activation of an app on the detained passenger's phone that signals prayer times, resulting in the call to prayer (azan) being heard. The crew interpreted this as a potential security threat and notified the dispatcher, leading to the emergency landing.
After landing, the aircraft and luggage were checked by bomb disposal experts and sniffer dogs, who found no dangerous items. Ultimately, the detained passenger was released.
