During the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the president of the country stated that Kyrgyzstan is already capable of providing itself with six main types of products. Among them are: milk, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, meat, and eggs.
However, as the head of state noted, some goods still come from abroad. This concerns flour, fruits, and vegetable oil. The authorities plan to develop domestic production of these products to reduce dependence on imports.
According to Japarov, fully supplying the country with flour is a more complex task due to the peculiarities of the natural conditions.
“Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country, where about 94% of the territory is occupied by mountains. Only 6% consists of other lands, among which are cities and settlements,” the president added.
