The President of Kyrgyzstan spoke about actions for women's rights and traditions

During his speech in parliament on March 11, Sadyr Japarov discussed the rules regarding public actions in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that the authorities do not hinder the holding of rallies; however, they must take place in designated areas, such as the Maxim Gorky Park. For this, organizers only need to notify the Bishkek city hall. Holding events in Ala-Too Square or near judicial institutions remains prohibited.

The president also expressed dissatisfaction with the content of some recent actions. He emphasized that the demands of participants in the women's rights marches do not align with the traditions and mentality of our society. According to him, support for such initiatives comes from only 1% of the population, while the majority of citizens feel irritation. Japarov stressed that the promotion of slogans that contradict the customs of the people is unacceptable.

It is worth noting that on March 8, a rally in defense of women's rights took place in Bishkek, with more than a hundred people participating in Gorky Park. Initially, activists were denied permission to hold a traditional march, being allowed only to hold a rally. The main themes of this action included the fight against domestic violence and the protection of victims. Participants, including human rights defenders, stated that only the perpetrator is responsible for violence and called on women to speak openly about their rights and to defend themselves.
