Suspect Detained for Distributing Extremist Materials on Social Media

In the Osh region, a citizen suspected of distributing extremist materials through social networks has been detained, as reported by representatives of the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate.

According to information provided by this service, operational officers working within the Service for Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration conducted a series of activities during which a man was detained for distributing extremist materials banned in Kyrgyzstan.

“Expert conclusions indicate that he shared content related to terrorist and extremist organizations on social networks,” the press service clarified.

Based on the collected evidence and the results of the examination, a criminal case was initiated under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (“Production and distribution of extremist materials”) and Article 330 (“Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, religious, or interregional hostility”), after which investigative actions began.

During the operational-search activities, J. uulu M., born in 1992, was detained as a suspect and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative actions aimed at identifying other possible participants in this criminal case are ongoing,” the statement added.
