At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the deputies approved the ratification of amendments to the "Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization," which pertains to subsidies in the fisheries sector. This agreement was adopted at the Twelfth Session of the WTO Ministerial Conference, held on June 17, 2022, in Geneva.
The aim of the WTO protocol is to reduce harmful subsidies that contribute to overfishing and depletion of fish resources, as well as to support sustainable development of fisheries at a global level.
