More than 36,000 children received assistance in short-term care units in 2025

In 2025, 36,299 children underwent examination and treatment in the short-term care units of the republic's hospitals, both on a planned and emergency basis. According to the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, this format of assistance has become particularly sought after among parents of young children: 64% of all patients were children under six years old, including 11% infants under one year.

The infrastructure of these units allows doctors to immediately begin diagnosis and therapy upon the child's admission, eliminating the need for prolonged hospitalization. The quality and timeliness of medical assistance are ensured by a round-the-clock operating mode, quick access to laboratory services, modern equipment, and a full range of necessary medications.

The introduction of short-term care practices helps reduce psychological stress for both children and their families. It also minimizes the risks of hospital-acquired infections and allows for quick management of acute conditions, providing further treatment recommendations at the primary healthcare level.

This model is effective in the allocation of budget funds, allowing hospital capacities to be freed up for providing assistance in severe pathologies and emergency cases.

The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund guarantees complete and timely funding for these units and conducts constant monitoring of the quality of services provided, strictly controlling compliance with medical standards and the protection of citizens' rights to safe and effective treatment, as mentioned in the report.
