The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reimbursed pharmacies for subsidized medications more than 409 million soms in 2025

In 2025, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) allocated 409.7 million soms for the reimbursement of pharmacies for subsidized medications dispensed by prescription.

According to the fund, these funds helped many insured citizens of Kyrgyzstan obtain necessary medications, paying only a small part of their cost.

“Subsidized medications are prescribed only by family doctors and strictly based on medical indications. Prescriptions are issued electronically, based on a directory that includes more than 800 names of medications,” the fund reported.

The program is intended only for citizens who have insurance and are attached to healthcare institutions. Medications can only be obtained at pharmacies that work with the MHIF,” the organization added.

It is important to note that the cost of medications is partially covered: the patient pays part of the amount, and the MHIF reimburses up to 50% of the cost of the medication in the form of a discount.

This approach makes treatment more accessible, reducing the financial burden on families and allowing patients to adhere to prescribed therapy without interruptions.

The MHIF strongly recommends that citizens check their insurance status and consult family doctors for advice and prescriptions for subsidized medications.
