
In a statement released by the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring on Wednesday, it was reported that this is the lowest temperature recorded in Mongolia for the current winter season.

Variable cloudiness is expected in the northern and other regions of the country, with no precipitation. A west wind will blow at a speed of 5-10 meters per second, while in other parts of the country it will be northwesterly.
The temperature in the Darhad basin and the valleys of the Tes and Eröö rivers will range from -32 to -37 °C, in the Uvs lake basin, Zavkhan, the upper reaches of the Zag-Baidrag rivers, and the valleys of Ider, Eg, Uur, Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, as well as in the area of the confluence of the Orkhon and Tuul rivers, the temperature will be -26...-31 °C.
In the Altai Mountains and the foothills of Khangai, the temperature will be between -8...-13 °C, in the eastern and northern parts of the Gobi -15...-20 °C, and in other regions -20...-25 °C.
In Ulaanbaatar, variable cloudiness is also expected with no precipitation, with a northwesterly wind at a speed of 2–7 meters per second and a temperature ranging from -21 to -23 °C.
In most areas, wind speeds will be 4-9 meters per second, while in mountainous areas, the Gobi, and steppes, it may reach 12-14 meters per second. Cold weather is expected to ease during the day; however, at night, the temperature in the Uvs lake area and the Darhad basin, Zavkhan, the sources of the Zag-Baidrag, Ider, and Tes rivers, as well as in the Orkhon-Tuul delta, will remain between -38 and -43 °C, while during the day it will be -27 to -32 °C.
In the mountainous regions of Khangai, Khövsgöl, Khentii, as well as in the valleys of the Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Eröö, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz, and Khalkh rivers, at night the temperature will vary from -31 to -36 °C, while during the day it will be -21...-26 °C. In the southern part of the Gobi, the temperature at night will be -15–20 °C, and during the day -4–9 °C; in the northern part of the Gobi -20–25 °C, and during the day -9–14 °C; in other regions, the temperature at night will be -24–29 °C, and during the day -14–19 °C.
Since the beginning of last week, cold air from Siberia (Russia) has spread across Mongolia, leading to a sharp drop in temperature.
According to the agency, the cold snap is expected to last until Saturday, and the population, especially nomadic herders and drivers, are advised to take additional precautions due to possible adverse weather conditions.
Winter in Mongolia is characterized by harsh conditions and lasts quite a long time, with temperatures ranging from -25 °C to -45 °C.
