A ferry sank in the Philippines, 13 people died

According to information from the Xinhua agency, the death toll from the ferry sinking off the coast of the Philippines has risen to 13, while more than 100 people are still considered missing. Local authorities provided this information, the agency reports.

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that at the time of the incident, there were 350 people on board, of whom 215 were rescued, although initial reports indicated seven fatalities.

"As of now, at least 13 bodies have been found, and more than 100 people are still unaccounted for after the inter-island ferry sank early Monday morning in the Basilan province area," Xinhua's report states.

The agency also adds that information regarding the number of survivors is still being clarified.
