In its first reading, the National Assembly of France approved a bill that prohibits the use of social networks by teenagers under the age of 15. This was reported by the newspaper Figaro.

The bill received significant support among the deputies: 116 voted in favor, while 23 parliamentarians opposed it.

The initiative, proposed by a member of the ruling party "Renaissance," is aimed at protecting the mental health of children and reducing the negative impact of social media. In addition to the age restriction, the bill also includes a ban on the use of mobile phones in high school classes.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed support for this initiative, emphasizing that it aligns with the recommendations of specialists and the expectations of the general public. The next step will be the consideration of the document in the Senate, and if approved, the law could come into effect on September 1, 2026.
