
The eighth day of search operations in West Java province, where landslides occurred, has led to the discovery of 70 bodies, reports Kazinform, citing Xinhua. According to the Indonesian publication Detik.com, Ade Dian Permana, head of the Bandung search and rescue agency, noted that good weather conditions aided the operation, and the bodies were found in several locations. The landslides occurred early Saturday morning in the Cisarua area of West Bandung district. Currently, ten people remain missing.
As of 2:30 PM local time on Saturday, authorities were able to identify 52 of the discovered victims, while the remaining bodies are undergoing examination. Permana added that rescue teams continue their work with safety in mind and are adapting their actions based on the current situation on the ground.
Indonesia frequently faces flooding and landslides during the rainy season, which typically lasts from October to March.
