
Yesterday, on February 3, 2026, 16 flares occurred on the Sun, of which four were classified as C, 11 as M, and one as the most powerful class X. This data was provided by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as reported by RIA Novosti.
In its statement on the official website, the laboratory specified: "On the specified day, 16 flares of class C and above were recorded. Four flares were of class C, 11 of class M, and one of class X."
Additionally, scientists noted that the area of the active region on the Sun increased by 50% over the day, setting a new record for the number of strong flares (classes M and X) in a single day.
