A police major, T.K.A., who previously held the position of head of the temporary detention facility of the Internal Affairs Department, has been detained in the Issyk-Kul region. He is accused of extortion and torture of a citizen, M.K.
According to information obtained from the State National Security Committee, it has been established that a number of employees of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region are involved in this incident.
T.K.A., using his official position, threatened physical harm and promised the detained M.K. more comfortable conditions in the isolation facility if he agreed to pay the demanded amount. When M.K. refused to comply with the demands, the former head of the temporary detention facility and his colleagues inflicted bodily harm on him. After these facts became known, T.K.A. submitted a resignation letter from the internal affairs bodies.
At the moment, T.K.A. has been detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the city police department of Karakol.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the involvement of other officials from the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region in this case is being examined.
