A citizen named U.J. contacted the Main Internal Affairs Directorate in Bishkek, filing a complaint requesting an investigation into the actions of an unknown fraudster. According to information from the press service, the applicant indicated that the criminal, posing as an employee of the State National Security Committee, gained his trust through the WhatsApp messenger. Citing the need to assist in the release of a person from a detention center, the fraudster deceitfully obtained a sum of 17 thousand US dollars.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which pertains to fraud.
As a result of operational measures, the staff of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate managed to detain a citizen named A.T., born in 1988, who had previous convictions and had been wanted internationally since 2022. He was placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether the detainee may be involved in other similar crimes.
