The criminal, who posed as a security service employee, had a prior criminal record
A fraudster posing as a GKNB employee has been detained in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. This was reported by the Main Internal Affairs Directorate.
According to the police, on December 19, 2025, a citizen named U.J. approached them, stating that he had fallen victim to a fraudster who claimed to be a GKNB employee. Through the WhatsApp messenger, the criminal managed to gain trust and, promising to help release U.J. from the detention center, took his money amounting to 17 thousand dollars.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which pertains to fraud.
As a result of operational measures, A.T., born in 1988, was detained. He had previous convictions and had been on the international wanted list since 2022. He is currently placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate.
The Main Internal Affairs Directorate strongly advises citizens to remain vigilant and not to trust individuals who present themselves as employees of law enforcement or other state agencies and demand money transfers through messengers or over the phone.
