A suspect in fraud has been detained in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, who posed as an employee of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB). This was reported by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD) of Bishkek.
It became known that on December 19, 2025, a citizen contacted the police, stating that an unknown person had introduced himself via WhatsApp as a GKNB employee and promised to help in the release of a person held in a pre-trial detention center. As a result of manipulations, the fraudster managed to obtain 17 thousand dollars from him.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During operational activities, a previously convicted citizen born in 1988 was detained, who had been on the international wanted list since 2022. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, the police are checking his possible involvement in other similar crimes. Investigative actions are ongoing.
The GUVD of Bishkek strongly advises citizens to be cautious and not to trust individuals posing as employees of government agencies who demand money over the phone or through messengers.
