An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 was recorded at the border of Kyrgyzstan with China

On February 16, 2026, at 13:14 local time in China, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the MSK-64 scale occurred. According to information provided by the Seismological Institute of the Kyrgyz Republic, the epicenter was located at the border with Kyrgyzstan.

Seismic vibrations were felt in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, especially in the villages of Bedel and Yshytk, where the intensity reached 3 points. The village of Bedel is located 34 km south of the epicenter, while Yshytk is 45 km southeast, and the city of Karakol is 143 km to the south.

Fortunately, no casualties or damage have been reported. Specialists continue to monitor seismic activity in this region.
