A tragic incident occurred in the Issyk-Kul region: a woman died as a result of self-immolation.
According to the regional press service, on February 25, 2026, the internal affairs authorities of the Ak-Suu district received a report about the pregnancy of a local resident's daughter, a 17-year-old girl who is in her sixteenth week. The girl's mother, born in 1985, was identified as M.A.
During the investigative actions, the minor was questioned. However, her mother refused to be present as a legal representative, stating: “How can I look people in the eye if my daughter is pregnant?”. Therefore, the girl's questioning took place with the participation of a worker from the district department for family affairs and child protection.
That same evening, around 9:00 PM, M.A. left the house under the pretext of buying drinks. Unable to cope with the emotional stress, she doused herself in gasoline and set herself on fire.
The woman was hospitalized with severe burns at the Issyk-Kul regional hospital, where she later died.
A forensic examination has now been appointed, and the case has been registered with the internal affairs department of the Ak-Suu district, where investigative actions are ongoing, the agency reported.
