The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported the uncovering of a corruption scheme in the Republican Blood Center of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to preliminary data, K.B.B., who held the position of director of the RBC from 2012 until August 2025, conspired in 2020 with the head of the private company LLC "M". As a result of this conspiracy, expensive medical equipment was installed, including Cobas S201 and ARCHITECT Plus PCR laboratories from ABBOTT, which allowed for significant budget funds to be embezzled.
After the equipment was installed, the former director signed a contract with LLC "M" for the supply of reagents for PCR laboratories, which they supplied at inflated prices for five years. As a "kickback," part of the funds was returned to K.B.B.
During the audit of the financial activities of the RBC for the period from 2020 to 2025, the investigation revealed damage caused to the state amounting to 36 million soms, resulting from the actions of the former director and the supplier LLC "M".
On March 5, 2026, K.B.B. was placed in custody in the GKNB detention center as part of this criminal case. A legal assessment will also be made regarding the head of LLC "M" as part of the investigative activities.
Currently, operational and investigative actions are ongoing to identify other officials involved in this corruption scheme.
