A journalist has been detained in Bishkek on suspicion of organizing calls for mass riots. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
According to information provided by the police, on March 9 of this year, during monitoring of social networks, it was discovered that an account under the name "Daniil Zhooshbaev" on Facebook was posting materials criticizing the work of state authorities and structures, as well as aimed at discrediting the government and increasing socio-political tension.
Additionally, under some posts from this account, comments were left that could contribute to destabilizing the public situation and inciting mass riots.
The investigative department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek has initiated a criminal investigation under Article 278 (Calls for Mass Riots) of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of operational search activities, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Committee for National Security identified and detained the person behind the fake account — journalist A.A., born in 1976. During a search at A.A.'s residence on March 10, various technical devices and items that may be important for the investigation were seized. These included mobile phones, tablets, laptops, a video camera, and documents.
The suspect A.A. was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek on March 11. Investigative actions are ongoing.
