In 2026, Kyrgyzstan needs over 182 thousand tons of fertilizers

In Kyrgyzstan, a campaign has begun for the import of mineral fertilizers necessary to support agriculture in 2026. According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, farmers in the republic need 182.8 thousand tons of fertilizers this season.

The bulk of this volume consists of nitrogen fertilizers — 96.2 thousand tons, which play a key role in conducting spring fieldwork. Additionally, 71.5 thousand tons of phosphorus fertilizers and 15.2 thousand tons of potassium fertilizers are required.

As of January 20, 21.5 thousand tons of fertilizers have already been imported into the country. Currently, private companies across the republic have 19.2 thousand tons in their warehouses, allowing them to begin preparations for the agronomic season.

One of the significant changes this year has been the strengthening of control over the import of fertilizers. According to the directive from the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine, mandatory accounting for the import of mineral fertilizers through border phytosanitary control points has been introduced since late December of last year. This means that all products entering the country by road and rail are now subject to strict registration, which will help control market supply and prevent shortages in critically important regions.
