Aynura Matraimova, residing in the village of Boston in the Kadamjai district of the Batken region, has found her calling in making handmade wedding baskets. A Turmush correspondent spoke with her.

In 2022, Aynura decided to take up this craft after returning from Russia, where she had been working. She has always had a passion for handicrafts, but it was then that she realized she could earn a living at home and turned down work abroad. "Every year, interest in my wedding baskets grows," she shares.

The prices for the baskets range from 1500 to 2500 soms, depending on the size and quality. These items are often used at weddings and other celebrations, beautifully complementing tables and creating a special atmosphere. Basket rentals are also available: a set of 7-8 pieces can be rented for a day for 2500 soms.

In addition to wedding baskets, Aynura makes flower-shaped lamps from foam, piggy banks, and various decorative bouquets. These products are in demand for birthdays and anniversaries. In the future, she plans to offer services for decorating photo zones for the "söykö saluu" [putting on] ceremony.

Previously, Aynura created bouquets from fresh fruits such as kiwi and mango, but now she has switched to compositions made from dried fruits. "A creative approach to the work allows one to earn even in rural conditions," she emphasizes.
