Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan agreed to conduct joint rescue exercises

The delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, headed by Deputy Minister Ernest Jusupov, participated in the 10th Conference of Ministers of the ECO, dedicated to disaster risk reduction issues.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the event took place on January 21 and 22 in Islamabad and gathered participants from various countries, including representatives of emergency services from ECO member states, as well as international and regional organizations.

The agenda of the conference included topics related to strengthening regional cooperation, early warning systems, and joint responses to emergencies arising from climate change.

Speaking at the event, Ernest Jusupov emphasized the need to improve cooperation at both regional and international levels, enhance warning and response systems, and the importance of joint efforts to increase the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction measures.

As a result of the conference, participants updated the Regional Framework Program of the ECO for disaster risk reduction for the period from 2025 to 2030 and adopted the Islamabad Declaration, aimed at promoting cooperation within the ECO and strengthening resilience to disasters.

On the sidelines of the event, a bilateral meeting also took place between Ernest Jusupov and the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, Inam Ghader Malik, where issues of further cooperation, experience exchange, personnel training, and conducting joint exercises and drills were discussed.

"The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership relations and expressed their readiness to continue joint work on disaster risk reduction," the agency added.
