Festive and educational events took place in Bishkek, particularly in Victory Park, where a solemn flower-laying ceremony was organized with the help of the Kyrgyz Society of Leningrad Blockade Survivors and with the participation of the Ministry of Defense and a military band.

The main goal of the event was to honor the memory of the citizens who endured the Leningrad blockade, which lasted 872 days and became a symbol of heroism during the Great Patriotic War.

During World War II, Kyrgyzstan accepted more than 16,000 residents of Leningrad, including about 3,500 children. The population of the republic also sent over 100 train cars filled with food and warm clothing to the besieged city.

"Blockade 872" aims to preserve historical memory and develop humanitarian dialogue between the countries of Eurasia, with special attention given to working with youth and supporting veterans of the blockade.

"The liberation and restoration of Leningrad is part of our common history. In the trenches stood the sons of all nations together, and the fraternal republics became home to thousands of evacuees who provided assistance in difficult times. Our task is to preserve this unifying history and the values of the victorious people. As long as we remember the feats of our ancestors, they live in our hearts, and we are united and strong," said Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshev.

At the Eurasian Center for the Russian Language in Bishkek, a play about the life of blockade survivors was also held, along with a memorial event called "Blockade Bread." Lessons of courage dedicated to the blockade and its consequences took place in more than 50 classrooms across the country.
