
At a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the draft Law on the Ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the OPEC Fund for International Development was approved in the second reading. The document pertains to the program "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation (Phase 1)," signed on September 23, 2025, in Bishkek.
The initiators of the bill note that this initiative aims to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitary conditions for 126 settlements in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions. The total funding for the program will amount to 200 million dollars.
The OPEC Fund for International Development will allocate 20 million US dollars for the implementation of the project. The loan will be issued for a period of 20 years with a grace period of 5 years and an interest rate of 1.25% per annum.
