Gulcho should not remain just on paper. This statement was made by the akim of the Aksai district, Chyngyz Bapaev.

On January 29, a meeting was held in the Aksai district, where the results of the previous year were summarized and goals for 2026 were outlined.

According to Bapaev, after Gulcho received city status, it is necessary to put the main streets in order. “We plan to improve the central streets of Gulcho. It is important to update the appearance of all facilities—be it institutions, enterprises, or residential buildings. We also need to conduct explanatory work with the population regarding measures to reduce road traffic accidents and other issues. Our city status should be implemented in practice, not just remain on paper,” the akim noted.

During the meeting, instructions were also given to prepare in advance for spring work on landscaping and tree planting. Each institution and enterprise has been tasked with planting a minimum of 100 seedlings, while large organizations should plant between 200 to 300 seedlings of various species.

President Sadyr Japarov signed a law on October 15, 2025, stating that the rural area of Gulcho in the Aksai district of the Osh region now has the status of a city of regional significance. This law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on September 25, 2025.

This law defines Gulcho as a city of regional significance and describes its boundaries.
