The problem of illegal dumps remains relevant for many regions of the country. This was reported by Meder Mashiev, the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, during a meeting of the Agricultural Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh. He added that the government plans to carry out a number of activities to improve the situation.
“As a result of the reform of the ATC, the number of unauthorized landfills has decreased from 411 to 290. We continue active actions in this direction and have approved new rules for organizing waste dumps, which we are transferring to local authorities,” the minister noted.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the construction of a waste recycling plant addresses the issue of the landfill in Bishkek.
“We intend to organize the disposal of waste from the territory of the Chuy region to this plant, which will allow us to increase its capacity,” he added.
