The city of Kyzyl-Kiya faced a decrease in the number of births last year; however, despite this and the increased number of deaths, the overall population still grew. This was reported at the 21st session of the Kyzyl-Kiya city council (VIII convocation).

At the meeting, Zhyrgal Kadyrov, the head of the city's primary healthcare center, presented a report on the work done and noted that compared to the previous year, the population increased by 800 people.

He also pointed out that there is a decline in birth rates and an increase in the number of deaths. In response, city council member Jalalidin Sultanov expressed doubt and inquired how the population could have increased under such conditions.

According to the data presented, in 2024, 900 children were born in Kyzyl-Kiya, while in 2025, the number was 852. The number of deaths was 195 in 2024 and 206 in 2025. Thus, the population grew from 64,034 in 2024 to 64,834 in 2025.

Zhyrgal Kadyrov explained that the reason for this phenomenon was the renovation work at the hospital. The institution was closed for repairs for six months, and many women in the city were forced to give birth in other locations. He also added that every year, after mudflow events, restoration work is carried out, including the removal of water from basements, which also affects the number of residents seeking care at other medical facilities.
