The drainage canal in Gulcho has not been cleaned for 30 years — it will be transferred to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to information from the municipality, on February 3, Mayor Nursultan Tajibaev, together with city hall employees and representatives of the district department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Alai district, inspected the condition of the drainage canals. It turned out that some canals within the city limits had not been cleaned for many years, and in certain areas, the canal had virtually disappeared, passing through the yards of private houses and causing damage to neighboring territories.

As Mayor Tajibaev reported, the length of the drainage canal is 3,434 meters. In 2018, the Ministry of Emergency Situations attempted to carry out cleaning, but the work was halted by local residents. "This year we plan to transfer the canal to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. During the inspection, two cases were found: one citizen built a kitchen over the canal, and another built a barn. Additionally, many sections have fences installed. All barriers located in the protective zone of the drainage canal will be dismantled. The canal has not been cleaned for 25–30 years," the mayor noted.
