At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Cholpon Esenamanova raised the issue of complaints from residents of Kara-Balta regarding smog.
She pointed out that the sources of air pollution in the city are the CHPP, the landfill, the "Junda" oil refinery, as well as the enterprises "Asia Steel" and "Textile," which negatively affects the health of children.
In response, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniyar Amangeldiev, reported that the operations of "Asia Steel" have been suspended until the identified violations are rectified.
According to him, the government has decided to ban the import and use of small coal, and has allocated 2 million dollars from the presidential fund for the construction of enrichment plants.
The deputy also inquired about how many houses in Kara-Balta and Kainy have already been gasified and when the gasification of the Jayil, Panfilov, and Talas districts is planned.
A representative of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, Azamat Aldayev, reported that work has begun in the village of Poltavka as part of the general gasification scheme; however, the upper part of Kara-Balta is still not gasified, and according to plans, this should be completed by 2030.
“There is a problem with capacities at the gas distribution station. Solving this will require 2 billion soms,” he added.
