The general development plan for the city of Uzgen has been put up for discussion.

According to the city hall, on February 4, the Uzgen general plan was presented for discussion to local residents. About 400 citizens participated in the hearings.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Eldos Taev, Deputy Akim of the Uzgen District Maksat Ibraimov, Chairman of the City Council Nurullo Shamanov, and the developer of the general plan.

Residents asked questions to Nursultan Tashmamatov, head of the architectural department of the city hall, and expert Chyngyz Anarbaev. All suggestions were taken into account and included in the protocol.

“The legal area of the general plan is 1,080 hectares. In the long term, over the next 20–25 years, it will be expanded to 5,000 hectares. The city market will be relocated outside of Uzgen, which will allow for the construction of new shopping centers and multi-story buildings. Improvements to the road infrastructure are also planned, including two bypass roads—one to the north and another to the south.

New land plots for kindergartens and sports facilities are planned, as well as measures for the preservation of green areas. Previously, the general plan for Uzgen had not been developed in full, and this is the first such project since gaining independence. The general plan existed in 1986, but its area was significantly smaller. According to current forecasts, with a population of 65,000, in 20–25 years it will exceed 120,000,” Nursultan Tashmamatov clarified.
